7 Super Smart Ways to Improve Your score in NEET Mock Tests

Are you preparing for NEET exam? If you wish to get higher marks you should really practice hard and solve as much questions as possible. Mock questions are the most effective way to practice. But what if you are unable to improve your scores in mock tests. Do you ever think what you need to do to turn the low scores into higher? First of all, we must know that low score in mock test, or series of tests, should not demotivate or affect your NEET preparation. You can improve your scores easily by taking few steps in to consideration while attempting the mock test paper or after the completion of it. Here in this article we will tell you the 7 smart ways to improve your score in NEET mock tests.

  1. Analyze Your Test
The most important thing to do after taking a mock test is to analyze it. The test analysis is more important than taking the test. Just taking mock test is not going to improve your scores. You need to figure out what is your personal bandwidth of mistakes, how many errors you made while guessing an answer, how many ‘silly errors’ were done and how many questions that have been ‘skipped’ were do-able? If you correct these mistakes, would you get the solution. Every step counts so figure out what you should do to maximize your score in next test.

  1. Go through its Solutions
Next step is to thoroughly go by the solutions of the mock test. Surprisingly, many students ignore the solutions after giving a mock test, defeating the purpose of the test. So, don’t make the same mistake. Go through the solutions carefully and patiently. While, going through the solutions, you will actually learn the application of theory of problem solving, which is an important skill for cracking NEET exam.
  1. Review the Correct Attempts
Now, start going through the questions that you have solved correctly. Once done, try to look out for shorter methods to solve the questions. Because time management is very important in NEET exam. Learn to do questions in the shortest time possible. This will help you to save enough time for difficult questions.
  1. Review the Incorrect Attempts
Then see the questions that you have solved incorrectly. This is the most important part. Make sure that you never make the same mistake again. Note down the mistakes (conceptual, logical, guess) that you have made and go through them periodically. Seems unimportant but is very helpful, nevertheless.
  1. Solve the un-attempted ones
Now you know all your correct and incorrect questions; the next step is to solve your un-attempted questions. But you should solve these questions by setting a time limit and then analyze them using step 2 and 3. The best way is to practice on MTG online Mock Test series. It provides a detailed analysis of your attempted, un-attempted and correct responses in the best way, to improve your performance and time management skills.
  1. Note down your mistakes
Make a notebook containing your silly mistakes, what went wrong, unnecessary calculations, time spent on solving the question, etc. Identify the key elements in your mistakes and summarize it in your own words. Revise this notebook every time before the next test.
  1. Resolve all mistakes in the same paper
Since this is a mock and you can appear for it again, attempt the mock test paper one more time. You may figure out a new approach this time. Don’t worry about the results. Even if you score low again, it’s fine! Because, by going through all solutions and revising the parts that you got wrong, you are improving your skills, which will definitely help you in the final exam. Practice solving Mock Test Papers from MTG Book series and improve your speed and accuracy to a next level.

To Summarize

There is no need to either get overwhelmed with mock scores or to get bogged down by the low mock scores. Follow these ways and improve your score in NEET Mock Tests. Practicing mock test is definitely a very important part of your NEET preparation as it helps you find your strengths and weaknesses out. Every year about 12 lacs candidates give NEET exam and around 50-75,000 candidates get shortlisted for counselling and from this number only 30,000 candidates get into government colleges. You have to work to get into the first 3-5% shortlisted candidates, after that chances of getting a seat in government colleges increases > 50%. Train your brain to think that you have to be in first 1% of the applying candidates. Always think positively and don’t be afraid of the competition

To help you prepare well in defined and structured manner, we have come up with some very efficient preparatory tips. Follow these NEET Preparation Tips to secure a seat in your desired medical college.

5. As per the toppers NEET preparation plan recommended time is 8-11 hours in a day. You may make your schedule accordingly but important is to stick to that. Besides NCERT reading, in Physics and Chemistry solve 75-100 numerical and objective problems every day.

6. Make a pocket diary to write important formulas and points which you can revise anywhere.

7. Stay healthy to stay wise. Eat healthy and balanced diet. Stay hydrated and drink plenty of fluids. Take sound sleep and adequate breaks in between the study schedule. Do not neglect your health by starving or living on junk food. Remember if you fall ill, you’ll lose next few days of studying.
Our brain is an energy-intensive organ, using around 20 percent of the body’s calories, so it requires plenty of good food to maintain concentration throughout the day.

8. Read books that motivates you and help developing your psychological strength. Book by Anuj Khare, The Secret To Success is one such book which let you know what it takes to be successful in achieving your goals. You can also read articles here, such as how to memorize things faster or read the books like How to Improve Your Memory and Remember More . The book by Pradyumn Singh, NEET success blueprint is a story of a boy who did not lose his hope, keep trying and cleared NEET in his third attempt.

9. To beat procrastination, always put effort to study even if it is little. Start small and less and then increase the effort with time. This way you can beat procrastination, and will study without fail. Reading MTG monthly magazine can help in this as magazines are not voluminous but provide a regular dose every month. The content presentation in magazine is also meticulously designed, because of which you actually don’t realize that you have read an entire topic. It makes studying this effortless.

10. Don’t try to be Jack of all Trades (and master of nothing). Focus on your strength and try improving your weak areas, but in this process don’t forget to polish your strong areas. You can be good at Physics or Biology, remember one thing, you just need 150+ correct questions which can be from any subject.

All you need is an understanding of topics, and some practice to perfect them. This is one of the most important point in your NEET Preparation. In spite of its advantages, internet can engulf you with its numerous resources. You need to keep a check on how much time to spend on internet and that too for just study purpose.

13. It is advisable to deactivate social media accounts. You’ll have withdrawal symptoms but after a few days you’ll completely forget about social networking sites.

16. Remember you are your best critic! Be strict with yourself. For example, give yourself targets as some chapters, some problems or objectives and see what your score is. Set score higher for the next test than what you scored in this test. Reward yourself for target achieved and penalise for target not achieved.

17. As a key strategy to prepare for NEET, you must know the weightage of topics in each chapter. You can also chart down this by analysing previous years papers. If you are short of time you can refer NEET champion series. Now you have only priorities important topics depending on your interest and study them. Remember, you have to do them all, sooner or later anyway.

18. It’s a sin to cram Physics formulae without understanding the base concepts. Most questions are not direct. So, try and understand the concept behind everything you should so much so that you can derive the formulae by yourself when you solve application-based questions. Prepare from Rank Up Physics to learn core concepts with more understanding and clarity.

19. Chemistry is a subject for which you have to keep on solving equations, understand the structural formation of compounds especially in organic chemistry. With good practice, you will get good at it with time.

20. For Biology read, read and read. Most questions from Biology are pretty direct, but there is so much information that it is really difficult to remember even very easy questions. You have to periodically revise the concepts to retain the vast information.

21. Practice from limited and standard books like Objective NCERT at your Fingertips, Rank Up Physics, etc. Don’t study from too many books. Refer to MTG’s NEET Resources, recommended and appreciated by Toppers and Teachers.
